How to: Set or change a primary key for a table.
Solution:
In the Table Design view, select the field or fields that are to be the primary key. Then select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Primary Key'.
1) If the Database window is not active, activate the Database window.
2) Go to the Table Design view.
3) Select the field or fields that are to be the primary key:
a) Place the cursor over the 'Row Selector' for the desired field. (The cursor turns into a down arrow.)
NOTE: Each row contains all of the information for a single field (the field name, the data type, the description).
b) Click mouse button. (The field is highlighted.)
NOTE 1: To select more than one adjacent field, press and hold down SHIFT while selecting the 'Row Selector' for each field.
NOTE 2: To select more than one non-adjacent field, press and hold down CTRL while selecting the 'Row Selector' for each field.
4) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Primary Key'.
